Dryland Training
The sport of diving heavily relies on aerial awareness and repetition. Trampolines, springboards, crash mats, and foam pits are a great tools to teach young athletes how to gain awareness of their body in the air and safely fall. This is great supplemental training for our recreational athletes, or a great way to get introduced to the sport. New River Diving currently offers two Dryland Training classes and is scheduled alongside the Recreational Diving schedule:
Session 1: August 28th - October 6th (Middle School Season)
Session 2: October 9th - November 10th
Session 3: November 13th - December 21st (High School Season)
Beginner Dryland
Beginner Dryland is for kids ages 6-10 and is supplemental to the Beginner Diving Lessons. Athletes will learn the basics of diving mechanics, simple trampoline & tumbling skills, and push the boundaries of their aerial confidence. The goal is to increase body control and air awareness at a young age before applying these skills to more complex skills on the boards and in the water.
Advanced Dryland
Advanced Dryland is for kids ages 8-13 and is supplemental to the Advanced & Middle School Diving Lessons. Athletes will continue to build their mechanical foundation for diving but focus more on drills that will translate directly to skills on the boards and in the water. The goal is to create a safe space for the athletes to learn new skills and gain the confidence to attempt them at the pool.
